Marco Cassetti

Marco Cassetti is an Italian footballer who plays as a defender. He began his career with FC Lumezzane, but spent the 1996-1998 seasons on loan at Montichiari. In 2000, he moved to Hellas Verona, where he made his Serie A debut. In 2003, he joined Lecce, where he became a regular starter under manager Zdenek Zeman.
Move to Roma
After Lecce's relegation to Serie B in 2006, Cassetti joined Roma, signing a contract until mid-2009. At Roma, he won the Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana. He scored his first goal for the club against Internazionale in a 3-1 victory at the San Siro. He also scored in the Champions League against Sporting Lisbon.
Contract Extensions with Roma
On June 4, 2010, Cassetti extended his contract with Roma for one season, earning 1.8 million euros. On March 22, 2011, he extended his contract for another season, this time until June 30, 2012.
International Career
Cassetti is the first player from Lecce to be capped by the Italian national team. He made his debut in a friendly match against Iceland on May 30, 2005. After two more appearances, he did not play for the national team for 2.5 years until he returned to the squad in a match against Portugal on February 6, 2008.
