Marco Tardelli - Football Player and Coach

Marco Tardelli is a former professional football player and coach, best known for his time with the Italian club Internazionale in Milan. He is one of the few players who have won all major international tournaments, from the World Cup to the European Cup in 1985 as part of Juventus.

Early Career

Tardelli began his professional career in the city of Pisa, playing for the local team. He spent two seasons there before moving to Como for a season. In 1975, he joined Juventus, where he played as both a defender and midfielder. Tardelli's skills were most prominent in the early 1980s during his performances for Juventus and the Italian national team. He successfully replaced the more powerful Romeo Benetti in the midfield for both the club and the national team.

International Success

Tardelli is one of the few players who have won all major international tournaments. He scored six goals in 81 matches for the Italian national team and was named the best player in the final match of the 1982 World Cup, where Italy defeated West Germany. In total, he played 259 matches for Juventus and scored 34 goals.

Coaching Career

After retiring from professional football, Tardelli pursued a coaching career. In the 1988/89 season, he began coaching the Italian youth national team (under 16 years old). He later became an assistant coach and went on to coach several teams in Serie B and Serie C. In 1997, Tardelli became an assistant coach for the Italian under-21 team and became its head coach in 1998. He continued to coach the club for two more years before moving to Internazionale after Marcello Lippi's dismissal. In addition to his work with various Italian national teams, Tardelli also coached club teams, including Como from 1993 to 1995 and Cesena in 1995-1996. In 2000, he became the head coach of the Italian Olympic team, and from October 2000, he took charge of Internazionale in Milan.
