Biography of Margaux Isaksen

Margaux Isaksen is a well-known American athlete in the sport of modern pentathlon. She was born on October 7, 1991, in Fayetteville and currently resides in Colorado Springs.

Early Life and Introduction to Modern Pentathlon

At the age of 8, Margaux's mother, Kathleen West, took her to her first fencing coach, Neil Pickens, who introduced her to the sport of modern pentathlon. Pickens recognized Margaux's abilities in various sports and enrolled her in training camps for modern pentathlon in Colorado. It was there that she first encountered this discipline.

Achievements and Training

Margaux Isaksen is currently continuing her education in middle school while preparing for the Olympic Games at the training center in Colorado Springs. According to an assistant coach, she is a permanent resident of Colorado Springs. Her training routine consists of six days of swimming and running, 4-5 days of shooting and fencing, and one or two days of equestrian practice per week, with Sundays being the only rest day.

In June 2007, Margaux Isaksen achieved a major victory by winning two national tournaments. Her total score of 5,528 points was enough to secure her the championship in the middle and junior (up to 21 years old) age groups. She surpassed her closest competitor, Michelle Kelly, in the middle age group by 52 points, and Rachel Sachs in the junior age group by a whopping 1,408 points. Margaux Isaksen was extremely pleased with her results and stated that she was at the peak of her form. Her Olympic coach, Janusz Peciak, noted that he had never before trained such a talented and young athlete.

Environmental Activism

Margaux Isaksen and her sister Isabella, along with their two cousins, received the Presidential Environmental Award in 2006. They founded a movement for the preservation of the environment in partnership with the Audubon Society and the Arkansas State Fishery Institution. The young ladies aimed to promote the beauty and cleanliness of the environment through their initiatives.
