Childhood and Inspiration

Margit Aulicino was born in the small Bavarian town of Waldkraiburg and grew up in a family with two older brothers. From a young age, she displayed a passion for reading, often staying up past bedtime to lose herself in books. Despite parental disapproval, she found solace and inspiration in the world of literature, particularly admiring the works of Astrid Lindgren, Michael Ende, and Enid Blyton. Her favorite childhood book was "My Donkey Benjamin" by Hans Limmer.

Education and Early Career

After completing high school, Margit pursued a degree in journalism at the University of Eichstätt, graduating in 1992. She embarked on a career as a reporter and editor for various Bavarian newspapers, finding it both stimulating and fulfilling. In 1997, she established her own editorial team, collaborating with leading German publications.

Return to Children's Literature and Writing Success

Margit's love for children's literature rekindled after having children of her own. She began writing at night and during school hours, penning her first series, "Romerbücher," which featured three detective stories set in ancient Rome and Bavaria. In 2013, she launched the highly successful "School of Magical Animals" series, which now includes eight volumes, including a Russian translation. Her writing career blossomed further with the release of the "Verflixt verhext" trilogy, chronicling the adventures of the young witch Pina Moonwolf. Additionally, Margit creates short stories for young children.

Personal Life and Inspirations

Today, Margit Aulicino resides in Eichstätt with her husband, Richard, three sons, and a cat named Camillo. She enjoys swimming in the nearby lake and running as a means of clearing her mind after working on her computer. Evenings are often spent socializing at beer gardens with friends, while vacations are spent exploring Bavarian scenery or traveling to Italy.
