Biography of María Valverde
Maria Valverde, a Spanish film actress, is known for her roles in films such as Melissa P., The Borgias, Cracks, and The Weakness of the Bolshevik. She was born on March 24, 1987, in Madrid, in the district of Carabanchel, into a creative family. Almost all of her close relatives are involved in the arts: her father is an artist, her mother is a sculptor by profession but works as a nurse, and her grandfather is a theater director.
From childhood, Maria loved watching movies. Constantly seeing her favorite actresses on screen, she also always dreamed of becoming an actress and being famous like them. Maria tried to combine her studies at school and college with theater education. She succeeded in doing so, and at the age of 10, she played her first role in a play.
Maria's dream of a career as a film actress came true in 2003 when she made her debut at the age of 16 and became known for the first time thanks to the film "The Weakness of the Bolshevik" directed by Manuel Martin Cuenca. Alongside Luis Tosar, she received the Goya Award for Best Young Actress in 2004 for her leading role in this film. This was followed by roles in two more Spanish films - "Vorvik" and "Outside the Body."
In 2005, Maria was invited to Italy to film "Melissa P.", directed by Luca Guadagnino, based on the popular and scandalous novel "100 Strokes (Melissa's Diary)" by young Italian writer Melissa Panarello. In this film, she played the lead role of Melissa, a teenager starting her sexual life. Another significant work of the actress was the film "The Borgias," directed by Antonio Hernandez, in which she played the role of Lucrezia Borgia.
Maria was in a relationship with Mario Casas, but in September 2014, it became known that the couple had separated.
