Mariann Beerle-Moor
Early Life and EducationMariann Beerle-Moor was born in Switzerland in 1943. She pursued her theological studies at the Theological Institute in Kolding, Denmark. Later, she graduated from the Faculty of Education at the University of Fribourg in Switzerland.
Career as a Linguist
Beerle-Moor has dedicated her career to the field of linguistics, specializing in linguistics and ethnolinguistics, particularly in the areas of the Caucasus and the grammar of the Lezgian language. She has conducted extensive fieldwork in the Lezgian village in Turkey, studying the Lezgian language and Turkish dialects for three years.
Dissertation and Research
In 1984, Beerle-Moor successfully defended her dissertation on the issues of the verb in the Lezgian language. Since then, she has authored several articles on the morphological analysis of the verb in Lezgian and the noun in the Chechen language, contributing to the advancement of the grammatical description of these languages.
Institute for Bible Translation
From 1997 to 2013, Beerle-Moor served as the director of the Institute for Bible Translation in Moscow. During her tenure, she actively led the institute's mission of translating the Bible into various minority languages in Russia.

One of Beerle-Moor's primary research interests revolves around the significance of Bible translations in preserving and promoting endangered languages.
