Early Life and Training

Mariella Adani was born in Palanzano, Italy in 1934. She studied voice at the Parma Conservatory and later at the L'Accademia di La Scala, under the tutelage of renowned teacher Giulio Confalonieri.

Professional Opera Debut

In 1954, at the age of 20, Adani made her professional opera debut at La Scala in the role of Barbarina in Mozart's "Le nozze di Figaro." Her exquisite lyric soprano voice garnered immediate acclaim.

Career Highlights

Over the next several years, Adani became a regular performer at La Scala, appearing in operas such as Humperdinck's "Hänsel und Gretel," Gluck's "Orfeo ed Euridice," Verdi's "Falstaff," and Puccini's "La bohème." She also debuted at the famous Venetian opera house La Fenice in 1956 and at the Teatro della Piccola Scala in 1957.

International Recognition

Throughout the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s, Adani performed at major opera houses around the world, including Teatro di San Carlo, Teatro Regio di Torino, Teatro Massimo, Teatro Lirico Giuseppe Verdi, and Teatro Comunale di Bologna. She also graced the stages of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Baths of Caracalla in Rome, Aix-en-Provence Festival, The Magic Flute Festival, and the Holland Festival.

Acclaimed Mozart and Rossini Roles
