Marielle Thompson is a Canadian skier, freestyler, and specialist in ski cross. Her first major competition was the World Cup on December 18, 2010. Prior to that, Thompson had competed in smaller events such as the South American Cup, North American Cup, and national championships. In that season, Thompson participated in 9 World Cup races and one World Championship race. Her best World Cup result was 7th place, and she finished 15th in the World Championship race. In the 2010-2011 World Cup season, Thompson ranked 50th in overall freestyle standings and 17th in ski cross.

First Podium and Continued Success
Almost a year after her World Cup debut, on December 17, 2011, Marielle Thompson reached the podium for the first time, taking the 3rd place in a race in San Candido, Italy. Continued Success and Olympic Victory

On March 29, 2013, she achieved victory at the FIS Junior World Championships in Chiesa in Valmalenco, Italy. In the 2013-2014 season, Thompson continued to perform well, positioning herself favorably for the upcoming Olympic Games.
At the Olympics in Sochi, Thompson finished third in the qualification rounds. Her teammate, Kelsey Serwa, claimed first place, while Ophelie David from France took second. Both Thompson and Serwa advanced to the final. The final race turned into a Canadian anthem moment, with Thompson leading confidently throughout the course and Serwa closely following. Ophelie David could not match the performance of the Canadians, as her final run ended with an unfortunate fall. In the end, Serwa and Thompson took second and first place, respectively. It took some time for Thompson to fully comprehend the magnitude of her victory, but she eventually realized the extent of her accomplishment.
