Early Career
Ivan Galinović began his professional career in 1993 for Osijek in the Croatian championship. However, he made his only appearance of the 1995/96 season as a starter. He then spent two seasons with Beliščia, a Croatian second division club, where he gained valuable playing time.
Breakthrough with Osijek
Galinović returned to Osijek in the 1998/99 season and played in 12 league matches, securing a regular spot in the team. He also contributed to Osijek's Croatian Cup victory in 1999 and participated in UEFA Cup matches.
Uncertain Years
Despite his success, Galinović faced limited playing opportunities in the following two years. He only played 3 matches in the 1999/2000 season and none in the season after.
Arrival at Kamen Ingrad
In 2002, Galinović moved to Kamen Ingrad Velika, where he became the first-choice goalkeeper. He played all the team's league matches and helped them reach the UEFA Cup, where they narrowly lost to Schalke 04.
Transfer to Panathinaikos
In 2004, Galinović joined Panathinaikos as a free agent. He initially competed with Cameroon's Pierre Ebede for the starting position, but eventually established himself as the team's number one goalkeeper. Galinović made his Champions League debut with Panathinaikos, facing Rosenborg in 2004.
International Career
Galinović represented Croatia's youth team in 1994. He earned his first caps for the national team in the 1999 Korea Cup, playing in a 2-2 draw with Egypt. He returned to the squad in 2007 during the UEFA Euro 2008 qualifiers and played one half in a friendly against Slovakia.
