Biography of Luigi Di Biagio

Luigi Di Biagio, an Italian former footballer, was born on June 3, 1971. He began his career at Lazio, making his debut in 1988. In the following season, Di Biagio moved to Monza, a Serie B club, and later suffered relegation with the team to Serie C1. He played in various positions, including central striker, during his time at Monza.

In 1992, Di Biagio joined Foggia, where he was recruited by talented coach Zdenek Zeman. It was under Zeman's guidance that Di Biagio found his position as a central midfielder, which he played until the end of his career.

In 1995, Di Biagio made a surprising move to Roma, despite being a product of and a supporter of Lazio, Roma's main rival. He spent five seasons at Roma before transferring to Internazionale. During his time at Inter, he played 88 matches and scored 13 goals.

In 2003, Di Biagio signed with Brescia, where he played in Serie B. In 2006, he terminated his contract with Brescia and joined Ascoli in October. However, due to his existing contract, he was only able to play for Ascoli from January 2007 onwards. During this time, Di Biagio maintained his fitness by playing for the amateur club Polisportiva La Sorta Roma, coached by his friend Alessandro Romano. He played only five matches for Ascoli, scoring two goals and receiving yellow and red cards, before ultimately retiring from professional football.

Di Biagio made his debut for the Italy national team on January 28, 1998, in a match against Slovakia. He played a total of 31 matches for the national team, scoring two goals. He participated in two FIFA World Cups and one UEFA European Championship. His last match for the national team was in November 2002.

After retiring as a player, Di Biagio embarked on a coaching career. In January 2008, he took charge of the youth team at La Sorta Roma. On July 3, 2008, he received temporary permission to coach at the first level.
