Biography of Marc Levy

Marc Levy is a French writer and novelist, best known for his novel "Just Like It Happened" which was adapted into the film "Between Heaven and Earth" in 2005. He was born in 1961 in Boulogne, France, into a Jewish family. During World War II, his grandparents died in Auschwitz, and his father, Raymond Levy (1923-2014), was a member of the French Resistance movement. His father's and uncle's memoirs would later inspire Levy's novel "Children of Freedom".

Early Career

In 1979, Marc joined the Red Cross organization and three years later became the regional director of the Emergency Aid Department in Paris. He enrolled at the Paris Diderot University in 1982 and, while in his second year, founded his first company, "Logitec France". In 1984, Marc moved to the United States and became one of the founders of two computer graphics companies in California and Colorado. From 1988 to 1990, he established and led an image processing studio at the University of Nice-Sophia Antipolis, where engineers from the American company "Spectrum HoloByte" worked.

Writing Career

Upon returning to France in 1991, Levy co-founded the company "Eurythmic-Cloiselec", specializing in construction and interior design. His architectural firm became one of the most renowned and respected in the country. In 1998, he wrote his first book, "Just Like It Happened" (published as "Between Heaven and Earth" in Russian), which was published by "Robert Laffont" in the following year. On November 4, 1999, Marc received a call from Steven Spielberg, who offered to buy the film rights. After selling the rights, Levy left his business to focus on his writing.

Later Years

In 2012, Levy visited Russia to present his new novel "Strange Journey of Mr. Daldry" at the VII Moscow Open Book Festival held at the Central House of Artists. There have been rumors of a long-lasting romance between Levy and singer Mylene Farmer, who was involved in designing the cover of his second novel. As of October 2012, Levy resided in New York with his wife Pauline and their two sons, Louis (23 years old) and Georges (2 years old).
