Early Life and CareerMark-Vivien Foé was born on 1 May 1975, in Yaoundé, Cameroon. He began his professional football career in his hometown with Canon Yaoundé in 1994. In 1997, he joined French club RC Lens, where he quickly established himself as a key player.
International Success
Foé made his debut for the Cameroon national team in 1997. He was part of the squad that won the Africa Cup of Nations in 2002 and represented Cameroon at the 2002 FIFA World Cup.
Club Career
In 2000, Foé moved to Lyon, where he became a pivotal figure in the club's success. He helped Lyon win two Ligue 1 titles, the Coupe de France, and the Trophée des Champions.
Manchester United and Injury Setback
In 2002, Foé signed with Manchester United but suffered a serious leg injury in training that kept him out of football for almost a year. He eventually joined West Ham United in 2003.
Return to France and Manchester City
After two seasons at West Ham, Foé returned to France with Lyon before signing for Manchester City in 2005. He scored nine goals in 35 appearances for City, becoming a fan favorite.
