Markul: A Journey in Hip-Hop

Early Life and Influences

Born on March 31, 1993, in Riga, Latvia, Mark Markov, later known as Markul, spent his formative years in London. Despite the city's vibrant music scene, he initially struggled to find recognition as a rapper. However, his love for hip-hop remained strong, fueled by influences such as French Montana and Giggs.

Musical Beginnings

In 2005, Markul stumbled upon a group of Russian expatriates who held rap concerts in Green Park. He joined them, becoming the youngest member of the group. This experience ignited his passion for music and led to the formation of his own collective, Tribe.

Solo Career and Breakthrough

After Tribe disbanded, Markul embarked on a solo career. In 2011, he released his first single, "Взвешенный рэп." Years of hard work and dedication culminated in the release of his acclaimed album "Сухим из воды" in 2015. This album marked Markul's breakthrough in the Russian-speaking rap scene.

Partnership with Booking Machine

In 2016, Markul was offered a contract by the renowned talent agency, Booking Machine, founded by his friend Oxxymiron. He relocated to St. Petersburg to join the agency, recognizing the potential for further growth and success.

Commercial Success and Recognition

As a member of Booking Machine, Markul's career skyrocketed. He released his album "Фата Моргана" in 2017, which became a commercial success. He collaborated with prominent rappers such as Obladaet and T-Fest, expanding his reach and solidifying his place in the Russian rap landscape.

Touring and Collaboration

Markul embarked on his first major concert tour in 2017, performing in over 20 cities across Russia and the CIS. He continued to release hit singles and albums, including "Блюз," "Корабли в Бутылках," "Атлантида," and "Великая Депрессия." His collaborations with artists such as Thomas Mraz further showcased his versatility and musical prowess.
