Marlen Reusser: A Multitalented Swiss Racer
Early Life and EducationMarlen Reusser was born and raised in Emmental, Switzerland, in a farming family. As a child, she showcased her artistic abilities by playing the violin and participating in an arts program at the University of the Arts Bern. However, it was her athleticism that truly blossomed in school, where she began running and eventually transitioned to swimming and cycling due to ankle injuries.
Reusser's intellectual pursuits were also evident. She served as president of the Young Greens Bernese from 2008 to 2009 and went on to study medicine, becoming a surgical assistant. Her medical background continued to play a role in her life, as she worked as a doctor at the Langnau Hospital while preparing for the 2018 UCI Road World Championships.
Political Involvement
Beyond her sporting and academic accomplishments, Reusser has been politically active. She served on the board of the Emmental Green Party in 2017 and 2018, demonstrating her commitment to environmental issues.
Cycling Career
Reusser's cycling career gained momentum in 2017 when she competed in the women's time trial at the UCI Road World Championships. She continued to excel, winning a silver medal in the individual time trial at the 2020 UCI Road World Championships in Imola.
In 2021, Reusser joined the Alé BTC Ljubljana team after the collapse of Équipe Paule Ka. Her talent and experience have made her a valuable asset to the team and a formidable force in the women's cycling world.
