Biography of Marlene Schmidt
Marlene Schmidt, also known as Marlene Schmidt-Hardin, is a former beauty queen, engineer, actress, and producer. She was born in 1937 in Breslau, Germany (now Wroclaw, Poland). In 1960, Marlene graduated as an engineer and her family moved from East Germany to Stuttgart, West Germany.
Beauty Pageant Success
Marlene's beauty caught the attention of many, and in 1961, she participated in the beauty pageant competition in Baden-Württemberg. She won the title of Miss Baden-Württemberg and received a car as the first prize. This success led her to compete in the national beauty pageant in Baden-Baden, where she was crowned Miss Germany. She then represented Germany in the Miss Universe 1961 competition held in Miami Beach, Florida, becoming the first German to win the coveted title.
Acting and Film Career
Following her beauty pageant victory, Marlene decided to pursue a career in the film industry. She married American actor Ty Hardin, known for his roles in popular TV series such as "Bronco" and "Maverick." Marlene and Ty moved to the United States, and they had a daughter together. Their marriage ended in divorce in 1966.
Marlene continued working in the film industry as an actress, producer, and screenwriter. She appeared in various films, including "The Stepmother" (1972), "The Specialist" (1975), "The Fifth Floor" (1978), and "Kidnapped" (1987). She produced 11 films and worked on the screenplay for five movies. Her film "The Stepmother" was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Music in 1972.
Later Life
Marlene eventually returned to Germany and currently resides in Saarbrücken. She married her second husband, Howard Avedis, a screenwriter, director, and producer. However, little information is available about this period of her life.
