Early Life and Martial Arts Background

Marloes Coenen, a formidable figure in mixed martial arts, embarked on her journey at a young age. Growing up in a family where martial arts held great significance, Marloes was exposed to the discipline from an early age. Her grandfather's expertise in jiu-jitsu proved instrumental in fostering her passion for combat sports.

Training and Debut

At the age of 14, Marloes began formal training under Pierre Drachman and Martijn de Jong. Despite the challenges of commuting to her training sessions through a secluded forest, her dedication remained unwavering. Her perseverance and determination paved the way for her debut in November 2000, where she triumphed in her first eight fights and earned the ReMix Cup.

Professional Career

Marloes established herself as a seasoned fighter, competing in various mid-level and major leagues. She secured a contract with Elite XC, but the project's cancellation prevented her from participating in any events.

In 2009, Marloes joined the Strikeforce roster, initially scheduled to face Cristiane Santos for the featherweight title. However, injuries forced a change in opponents, leading to her victory over Roxanne Modafferi in the first round.

Strikeforce Title Reign

Marloes' resilience was put to the test when she finally faced Santos for the championship in 2010. Despite a valiant effort, she suffered a technical knockout in the third round. However, she rebounded and claimed the Strikeforce bantamweight title by defeating Sarah Kaufman in 2010. She successfully defended her title against Liz Carmouche but succumbed to Miesha Tate in a rematch in 2011.

Post-Strikeforce Journey

After parting ways with Strikeforce, Marloes briefly signed with BlackEye Promotions but later clarified that it was a verbal agreement rather than a formal contract. She ultimately returned to the squared circle with Invicta Fighting Championships.
