Early Life and Career Beginnings

Born on June 11, 1987, in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, İlhan began playing tennis at the age of six. In 2004, he immigrated to Turkey with his mother and settled in Istanbul. Following his father's passing, İlhan's mother, Madiya, supported his passion for tennis.

Professional Journey

İlhan turned professional in 2006. Under the tutelage of former Turkish tennis player Can Üner, he made a remarkable leap from 1320th to 320th in the world rankings within a year. His career reached new heights with his victory at the Israel Open in 2008, marking his first ATP Challenger Tournament win.

Grand Slam Breakthrough

In 2009, İlhan made history at the US Open, becoming the first Turkish player to both qualify for and win a match in a Grand Slam event. He reached the second round in 2010 at the Australian Open and Wimbledon.
