Martha Erika Alonso Hidalgo

Martha Erika Alonso Hidalgo was a Mexican politician who became the first woman to serve as the Governor of Puebla. Her term was tragically cut short when she and her husband, former governor Rafael Moreno Valle Rosas, perished in a helicopter crash just ten days after she took office.

Early Life and Education

Alonso was born in Puebla and attended the Iberoamerican University of Puebla, where she studied graphic design. She went on to earn a master's degree in public communication from the University of the Americas Puebla.

Political Career

In 2009, Alonso joined the National Action Party (PAN) and played an active role in its activities. From 2011 to 2016, she led the establishment of Puebla's Integral Family Development System, which received significant funding under her husband's governorship. In 2015, she became the General Secretary of the State Executive Committee.

First Woman Governor of Puebla

On December 14, 2018, Alonso made history by becoming the first female Governor of Puebla. Her educational background and professional experience earned her respect and recognition as one of Puebla's most influential first ladies.

Tragic Accident

On December 24, 2018, a helicopter carrying Alonso, Rafael Moreno Valle Rosas, and several other PAN politicians crashed in a field near Santa María Coronango, killing all five passengers, including the crew.
