Martie Maguire, born Martha Elenor Erwin on October 12, 1969, is an American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Growing up in Edison, Texas, she began playing the violin at age five and mastered the fiddle by age twelve. Along with her sister Emily, she developed a passion for music and learned various instruments, including violin, guitar, mandolin, and bass.

Bluegrass Roots and "Dixie Chicks"

In her teenage years, Maguire honed her musical skills by performing in a bluegrass quartet with her sister and two classmates. In 1983, she joined her sister and friends Troy and Sharon Gilchrist to form "Blue Night Express," a bluegrass group that toured festivals for five years.

Maguire was married to Ted Seidel in the late 1990s, but they later divorced. In 2001, she met actor and teacher Gareth Maguire and married him in August of that year. The couple has two sons.
