Early Life and Transition to Film
Martin Campbell was born in New Zealand on October 24, 1943. In 1966, he migrated to England with aspirations of making a filmmaking career. Initially, he worked as a photojournalist.
Television Success
Campbell debuted as a director in 1973 with the adult comedy "The Sex Thief." His career flourished on British television with acclaimed series such as "The Professionals" (1977-1983) and "Edge of Darkness" (1985).
Hollywood Breakthrough
In the late 1980s, Campbell moved to the United States. His Hollywood debut, "Criminal Law" (1988), launched a series of successful films, including:
