Martin Emmrich
Martin Emmrich is a former German professional tennis player who specialized in doubles. Born in Heidelberg, Germany, his father, Thomas Emmrich, was a multiple-time East German national champion in all tennis disciplines.
Early Life and Tennis Career
Emmrich started playing tennis at the age of six and developed a preference for grass and hard courts. He launched his professional career in 2001.
Grand Slam Debut and Success
In 2011, Emmrich made his Grand Slam debut at the US Open partnered with Andreas Siljeström, reaching the second round. His most successful year came in 2012, when he triumphed in three ATP Challenger Series events alongside various partners. That same year, he also debuted at the French Open and Wimbledon, partnering with Siljeström and Michael Kohlmann, respectively, and advancing to the second round at Wimbledon.
ATP Tour Breakthrough
In May 2012, Emmrich and Siljeström made history by reaching their first ATP Tour final in Belgrade. They ultimately fell short in the championship match.
