Martin Jones: The Man with a Tooth in His Eye

Martin Jones, a British man, had been blind for nearly a decade. However, his sight has now been restored thanks to a remarkable procedure that involved implanting part of his tooth into his eye.

The Tooth Implant

The implanted tooth was a canine, also known as an "eye tooth," which was taken from Martin's own mouth. Surgeons then placed an artificial lens on its base and secured the assembly beneath the eyelid, allowing tissue to grow.

The Skin Graft

Additionally, a portion of Martin's skin was taken from his mouth and grafted onto the tooth in his eye. This was done to provide the eye with its own blood supply.

The Corneal Incision

Finally, the surgeons made an incision in Martin's cornea to allow light to enter the eye. This procedure has given over 600 people the gift of sight.
