Early Life and Education

Martin van Creveld was born into an anti-Semitic Netherlands after World War II, forcing his family to relocate to Israel in 1950. Creveld resided in Israel from the age of 5 and went on to graduate from the renowned London School of Economics and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

Academic Career

In 1971, Creveld joined the faculty of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem as a professor of military history. Over the years, he has established himself as a leading military analyst, historian, and strategist, gaining global recognition.

Military Expertise

Creveld played an instrumental role in the establishment of the Israeli military, participating directly in combat operations. His contributions have led to him being appointed as a consultant to the United States Department of Defense.
