Early Life and Education

Anna Korsun, known by her stage name MARUV, was born on February 15, 1992, in Pavlograd, Ukraine. Raised in a mining family, she pursued a diverse education, attending vocal and dance classes while also excelling academically. Despite earning two degrees in Intellectual Property and Radiophysics, her passion for music remained unwavering.

The Pringlez Era

While studying at the Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute, Korsun co-founded the band The Pringlez. Initially covering international hits, the band gradually transitioned to original pop-rock compositions. With Korsun as the charismatic vocalist and leader, The Pringlez gained popularity in Ukraine, winning the Pepsi Stars of Now competition.

Solo Career and Debut of MARUV

In 2014, Korsun competed in the Ukrainian singing competition "The Voice," but was eliminated in the early stages. The following year, she represented Ukraine at the "New Wave" contest with The Pringlez. In 2017, she relocated to Kyiv and rebranded herself as MARUV, releasing her debut EP, "Stories."

Breakthrough with "Drunk Groove"

Teaming up with producer Mikhail Boosin as MARUV & BOOSIN, the duo released the electro-pop track "Drunk Groove" in 2018. The song became an instant viral sensation, amassing over 92 million views on YouTube as of March 2019.

Eurovision Controversy

In 2019, MARUV was selected as Ukraine's representative for the Eurovision Song Contest. However, her past performances in Russia raised concerns, leading to a dispute with the Ukrainian broadcaster. Refusing to be used as a "political pawn," she withdrew her participation, causing Ukraine to withdraw from the contest.

Solo Album and Concerts

MARUV pursued her solo career in 2018, releasing her debut album, "Black Water." She has continued to release successful singles and music videos, including "Focus on me," "I Used To Cry," and the recent collaboration with Faruk Sabanci, "For You." Her first solo concert is scheduled for April 6, 2019, in Moscow.

Personal Life

MARUV is married to Alexander Korsun, who met her while she worked as a waitress in a karaoke club. He now serves as the project manager for MARUV. They have no children at the present time.
