Early Career and Professional Debut with Petrojet
Marwan Mohsen is an Egyptian football player who currently plays as a striker for Al Ahly in the Egyptian Premier League and the Egypt national team. He began his professional career with Petrojet in 2010, making his debut in a league match against Tala Al Gaish. In 2013, he left Petrojet due to issues with the coaching staff.
Move to Portugal and Return to Egypt
After the 2012 London Olympics, Mohsen joined the Portuguese club Gil Vicente. He made his debut in the Primeira Liga in 2013 and scored his first goal for the team in the Portuguese Cup. At the end of the season, he returned to Egypt and signed a three-year contract with Ismaily.
Prolific Goalscorer for Ismaily and Al Ahly
During his time at Ismaily, Mohsen established himself as a prolific goalscorer, finishing the 2015/2016 season as the league's second-highest scorer with 14 goals in 32 appearances. In the summer of 2016, he moved to Al Ahly, signing a five-year contract.
Injury and Recovery
In January 2017, while playing for Egypt at the Africa Cup of Nations, Mohsen suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his knee. The injury required surgery in Germany and a lengthy recovery process. During this period, FIFA provided financial assistance to Mohsen through its Club Assistance Programme. In November 2017, he returned to full training with his team.
International Career
Mohsen made his international debut for Egypt in 2011 and scored his first international goal in the same match. He was a member of the Egypt squad that participated in the 2012 London Olympics. In 2017, he helped Egypt win the silver medal at the Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.
