Biography of Roman Torres

Roman Torres is a Panamanian footballer who currently plays as a defender for the club "Seattle Sounders" and the Panama national team. He began his career at the club "Chepo" and made his debut for the first team in 2003. In the same year, he won the Rommel Fernandez Cup. In 2005, Roman moved to "San Francisco" and won the national championship twice with the team. After the season, he joined "Cortulua" in Colombia and later transferred to "La Equidad" in 2007. In his first year with the club, Roman helped them win the Colombian Cup.

In 2010, Torres was loaned to "Atletico Junior" and made his debut for the team on February 7th in a match against "La Equidad". He also helped the club win the Mustang Cup that season. In early 2011, he was loaned again, this time to "Atletico Nacional". On February 6th, he made his debut for the new club in a match against "Envigado", and on April 14th, he scored his first goal for "Atletico Nacional" in a match against "Deportivo Cali". He became a two-time Colombian champion with the team.

In 2012, Torres returned to "La Equidad" but was loaned out again after a year. He joined "Millonarios" and made his debut for the team on July 30th in a match against "Santa Fe". At the end of the season, Torres once again became a national champion. On March 2nd, 2013, he scored his first goal for "Millonarios" in a match against "Boyaca Chico". In the summer of 2015, he moved to the American club "Seattle Sounders" and made his debut in the MLS on August 16th in a match against "Orlando City".

International Career

In 2005, Torres represented the Panama U-20 national team at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in the Netherlands. In the same year, he was called up to the senior national team for the CONCACAF Gold Cup. He made his debut for the national team on July 17th in a match against South Africa and won the silver medal at the tournament. In 2007, he participated in the CONCACAF Gold Cup again, playing against Honduras, Cuba, and Mexico.

Torres played for Panama in the 2009 and 2011 editions of the CONCACAF Gold Cup, facing teams like Nicaragua, Guadeloupe, Mexico, and the United States. He scored his first goal for the national team in a friendly match against Venezuela on March 3rd, 2010. In 2013, Torres helped Panama reach the final of the CONCACAF Gold Cup, playing against Martinique, Canada, the United States, Cuba, and Mexico. He scored a goal in the match against Mexico. In 2015, he won the bronze medal in the CONCACAF Gold Cup, playing against Haiti, Honduras, Trinidad and Tobago, Mexico, and the United States. He also scored a goal in the match against Mexico.

On October 10th, 2017, Roman Torres scored the decisive goal against Costa Rica in the World Cup qualification match, securing Panama's first-ever qualification for the FIFA World Cup in Russia.
