Marina Anatoliivna Poroshenko is a prominent Ukrainian political and social activist who served as the First Lady of Ukraine from 2014 to 2019 during her husband Petro Poroshenko's presidency.

Early Life and Education

Born on February 1, 1962, in Kyiv, Marina's father was a former Deputy Minister of Health of the USSR. She pursued medical education at Kyiv Medical Institute from 1980 to 1986, later completing a Doctor of Philosophy degree in 1991.

Career in Healthcare and Arts

After medical school, Marina worked as a physician in the cardiology department of October Clinical Hospital in Kyiv. She also served as a volunteer assistant to Viktor Korol, a member of the Ukrainian Parliament. In 2005, she graduated with honors from the National Academy of Management in Culture and Arts in the field of fine and decorative arts, earning the qualification of Art Expert.

Involvement in Politics and Culture

In 2014, following parliamentary elections, Marina became a volunteer assistant to Hryhoriy Zabolotnyy, a parliamentarian from Vinnytsia. From 2016 to 2020, she served on the Council for the Development of the National Cultural, Artistic, and Museum Complex "Mystetskyi Arsenal."

Leadership Roles in Cultural Institutions

On January 19, 2018, Marina was appointed Chairperson of the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation, a position she held until December 2019. She is also the Chairperson of the Council of the Petro Poroshenko Charitable Foundation.

In 2020, Marina was elected as a deputy to the Kyiv City Council, representing the "European Solidarity" party.
