Matthew Amoah: Ghanaian Football Star
Matthew Amoah is a Ghanaian footballer who played as a striker. He was a free agent from July 1, 2014.
Early Career
Amoah began his professional career with Dutch club Vitesse in 1998 and stayed until 2005. In 2000, he was loaned to fellow Dutch club Fortuna Sittard.
Borussia Dortmund Period
In December 2005, Amoah signed a two-year contract with Borussia Dortmund, coached by Bert van Marwijk, who also managed Fortuna Sittard in 2000. However, he made only 17 league appearances for Dortmund without scoring a goal.
Return to Netherlands and Turkey
On July 3, 2007, Amoah joined Dutch club NAC Breda on a three-year contract for a transfer fee of €250,000. In September 2011, he moved to Turkish club Mersin Idman Yurdu.
International Career
Amoah debuted for the Ghana national team in 2002 and made 26 appearances, scoring 9 goals. He participated in the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany, playing in all four matches (three group-stage games and one Round of 16 match).
