Early Life and EducationFrench oboist and music pedagogue Jean-Louis Capezzali began his musical journey at the esteemed Paris Conservatoire. Under the tutelage of renowned oboist Étienne Baudo and chamber ensemble maestro Fernand Oubradous, Capezzali honed his exceptional skills.
International Acclaim
Capezzali's talent shone brightly on the international stage. In 1963, he secured the prestigious second prize at the prestigious International Competition of Performers in Geneva. Five years later, he triumphed with the first prize at the renowned Prague Spring Festival.
Orchestral and Solo Career
From 1967 to 1979, Capezzali held the coveted position of principal oboist in the renowned Orchestre de Paris. Simultaneously, he embarked on a prolific solo career, collaborating with renowned conductors such as Claudio Abbado, Daniel Barenboim, Riccardo Chailly, and John Eliot Gardiner. In 1972, he formed his acclaimed wind octet, further showcasing his versatility.
First Performances and Pedagogy
Capezzali not only mastered the classical repertoire but also premiered works by contemporary luminaries Luciano Berio and Henri Dutilleux. His passion for education led him to teach at the Paris and Geneva Conservatories. He also served as the director of the Sándor Végh International Chamber Music Academy.

Capezzali's legacy extends through his exceptional students, including François Leleux, Alexei Ogrinchuk, and Ivan Poddyomov, who have carried on the tradition of oboe excellence.
