Biography of Mavlid Aleerovich Visaev
Early Life and EducationMavlid Aleerovich Visaev was born on May 13, 1913, in the Chechen village of Nizhny Naurskaya. After completing his secondary education, he attended a cooperative technical school, graduating in 1932.
Military Career
Visaev joined the Red Army in 1932 and went on to graduate from the Ordzhonikidze Infantry School in 1935. In 1941, he completed cavalry training courses for command staff.
World War II
With the outbreak of World War II in June 1941, Captain Visaev was assigned to a cavalry squadron. He distinguished himself in the early battles of the war, particularly at Kirday (Western Ukraine) from July 18-22, 1941. Despite heavy enemy fire, he led his squadron into action, breaking through the German defenses and repelling numerous attacks. For his bravery and leadership, he was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor.
As the war progressed, Visaev commanded the 28th Guards Cavalry Regiment as part of the 6th Guards Cavalry Division. In the offensive of April 27, 1945, his regiment, operating with tank and artillery support, breached the German defenses near the town of Schwedt, capturing several villages and towns. By May 2, 1945, the regiment had reached the Elbe River and made contact with Allied forces.
For his actions during the offensive, Visaev was recommended for the title of Hero of the Soviet Union in June 1945. However, the award was only posthumously granted on May 5, 1990.
Post-War Life
After the war, Lieutenant Colonel Visaev retired from active duty in 1946 and settled in Grozny, Chechnya. He received numerous decorations, including the Order of Lenin, Order of the Red Banner, Order of Suvorov, Third Class, Order of the Red Star, and the American Legion of Honor.
Death and Legacy
Mavlid Aleerovich Visaev passed away on May 23, 1986, and was buried in the village of Nadterechnaya. His heroism and military accomplishments continue to be remembered and celebrated in his native Chechnya.
