According to the journal "Forensic Science International," the odds of four successive generations of twins in a family are estimated at 1 in 4 billion. However, Jane Denton from the Multiple Births Foundation cautions that such estimates are imprecise, as they vary depending on whether the twins are identical or fraternal.
"The general population has a baseline of 3-5 per thousand of having identical twins," Denton explained. "With fraternal twins, there is a rare gene that a woman can carry. If she does have fraternal twins, it makes it likely that her daughter will also have a four-fold chance of having twins."
