A British Man's Epic Facebook Troll on a Fraudster

The Lottery Scam

Tom Sherin received a "very important message" on Facebook from a certain Michael Austin, claiming to represent the social media giant's CEO. Sherin had apparently been "randomly selected" as the winner of a lottery held a few days prior, and the prize? A cool $1,200,000 and a brand-new Jeep. All he had to do was pay a mere £500 for delivery.

The Troll Begins

Instead of politely declining the offer, Sherin decided to have some fun with Michael. Their online exchange ensued for the next couple of hours, with Sherin gleefully trolling the scammer and uploading their entire conversation for the world to see on Facebook.

The "Winning" Money

When asked to show proof of the winnings, Austin sent a photo of cash in a box, along with a forged letter from Facebook executives. The conman claimed that the box of "green" would be delivered to Tom's doorstep by FedEx. To which, Sherin replied that he might not be home since he spends a lot of time doing charity work with prostitutes.

The Hilarious Details

Sherin's outlandish replies continued. When Austin asked for the "winner's" home address, phone number, and email, Sherin questioned whether he should also include the addresses of the women he helps. He ended up giving the postal address of infamous British DJ Jimmy Savile and claimed he couldn't provide a phone number because his prostitute had stolen his mobile.

The Confidential Information

Sherin mentioned he wanted to share his "good fortune" with a school friend, prompting Austin to send a lengthy message stressing the secrecy of the win. They went back and forth discussing how to transfer the £500 for the "discreet delivery," with Michael suggesting Western Union and providing the account details.

The Threat and the Comeback

Suddenly, Austin received a message that Sherin had contacted a local newspaper, who would be coming over the next morning to interview the "newly minted millionaire." The conman proceeded to swear profusely and threaten to cancel the contest. Sherin apologized and offered to pay 500 Vietnamese Dong instead, to which Michael reminded him that he only accepts pounds.

The Prank Revealed

Austin continued to "bluff," admitting that he didn't have the £500 but would take out a bank loan. While the bank supposedly approved the application, Tom asked the scammer to rate a drawing of a horse, supposedly made by his son. Let's just say the drawing was of a quality expected from a five- to six-year-old.

"Wow, that's beautiful," Austin wrote.

"I'm so proud of him," Sherin replied. "He's only 17."

It was at that moment that Michael realized he had been had. The conversation abruptly ended.

The Viral Sensation

Sherin's documented trolling has garnered over 5,200 likes and 25,000 shares on Facebook. Only one person was probably not amused: the man behind the alias Michael Austin.
