Ring Announcing Career

Buffer began his career as a ring announcer at the age of 38 in 1982. He quickly achieved success and by 1983, he was announcing all matches under 'Bob Arum's Top Rank.' This led to his nationwide recognition, which was a remarkable achievement for a ring announcer who typically worked on a freelance basis and went unnoticed outside the city. In 1984, Buffer coined his famous catchphrase, 'Let's get ready to rumble,' which became incredibly popular among viewers. He later trademarked the phrase.

Partnership with Donald Trump

By the late 1980s, Buffer became the exclusive ring announcer for all projects at Donald Trump's casinos. Trump himself spoke highly of Buffer and even had the goal of having him join his team. Currently, Buffer announces all HBO, RTL, and Top Rank Versus boxing matches. His popularity has helped him reconnect with his long-lost family members. In 1989, Michael's biological father reached out to him after seeing his lost son on television. One of his half-brothers, Bruce Buffer, became his agent and manager, and they have had a strong business partnership.

Other Ventures

In addition to his work in combat sports, Buffer has hosted various other sporting events, including the World Series, the Stanley Cup Finals, the NBA Finals, the NFL playoffs, and the 1999 Indianapolis 500. His legendary phrase, 'Let's get ready to rumble!' is still a registered trademark, which has earned him a significant income through its use in commercials and video games. As of 2009, the trademark had brought in over 400 million dollars.

Personal Life

Michael Buffer got married for the first time at the age of 21, but the marriage ended in divorce after seven years. He has two sons from this marriage. He remarried in 1999, but the union was short-lived, and he became single again in 2003. Buffer proposed to his third wife, Christine, on September 13, 2007, during a live broadcast of 'The Tonight Show with Jay Leno'.
