Michael Harnett is an Australian wheelchair basketball player who has achieved remarkable success on both national and international levels. He is widely regarded as one of the strongest Australian wheelchair basketball players. Throughout his career, Harnett has won numerous gold and silver medals in various prestigious championships.

Early Life

Michael Harnett was born in the suburb of Perth, Australia. His life took a drastic turn when he was involved in a car accident that left him confined to a wheelchair. Despite this setback, Harnett remained determined to pursue his passion for sports.

Playing Career

With the help of the Western Australian Institute of Sport, Harnett began playing wheelchair basketball in 1991. He quickly developed his skills and became known for his defensive abilities. In 1997, Harnett made his debut in the Australian national team, representing them in junior competitions held in Victoria, Australia.

Harnett's most notable achievement came in 2008 when he won a gold medal with the Australian Paralympic wheelchair basketball team. He was honored with the Order of Australia for his outstanding performance in the Paralympic Games.
