Michael McCusker: Endurance Athlete, Philanthropist, and Record-Breaker

Early Endurance Feats
Michael McCusker, an American athlete, first embarked on his endurance journey in 2014. Despite recovering from an ACL injury sustained during Navy SEAL training, he attempted to break the 24-hour pull-up world record. After 19 hours and 3,202 pull-ups, severe muscle injuries forced him to withdraw.

Tire Flip for Charity
In honor of his late father, McCusker set out to flip a 250-pound tire for 13.1 miles in December 2014. Unable to secure a municipal permit, he completed the challenge in a parking lot, flipping the tire 137 times across a 500-foot stretch for 10 hours. The event raised $700 for the Wounded Warrior Project.

"Everesting" for Parkinson's
In 2015, McCusker ascended the vertical equivalent of Mount Everest by climbing a 20-foot rope 1,450 times over 27 hours. This "Everesting" feat raised $20,000 for the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, a tribute to his father's battle with the disease.

Breaking the Pull-Up World Record
Armed with a 30-pound weight vest symbolizing the burden of wounded soldiers, McCusker set out to reclaim the 24-hour pull-up record in September 2015. Raising funds for Operation Enduring Warrior, he pulled 5,804 times, shattering the previous record by 3 and holding the title to this day.
Military Service and Naval Career
Inspired by the 9/11 attacks, McCusker joined the U.S. Navy. After serving in various global deployments, he now serves as an air traffic controller at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island in Washington State.
