Mikhail Petrenko is an opera singer and a bass soloist at the Mariinsky Theatre. He was born in Leningrad and started his musical career while studying at the St. Petersburg Conservatory. Petrenko was invited to join the Mariinsky Theatre's Academy of Young Singers, where he made his debut in Prokofiev's opera "Semyon Kotko". Since 1998, he has been a soloist in the opera company.
