Michaela Rabitsch is an Austrian jazz singer, composer, and trumpeter. She is part of a well-known creative and marital duo, along with guitarist Robert Pawlik, that has formed the foundation of a renowned Austrian quartet. Together, they have developed their own unique artistic concept, creating compositions that draw from the traditional jazz heritage. One of their major influences is the legendary jazz figure, Louis Armstrong.
Early Life and Education
Michaela Rabitsch was born in Austria in 1963. She initially learned to play the violin in her childhood, but later moved to Vienna to study at the prestigious Vienna Conservatory. However, at the last moment, she changed her mind and pursued studies in economics. Nevertheless, Rabitsch couldn't give up music completely, as her passion for it was too strong. At the age of 23, she turned back to music and started playing the trumpet. She studied jazz at the Bruckner Conservatory Linz, where her name soon became well-known in the jazz world. Additionally, she began developing her vocal skills during this time.
Career
Rabitsch's musical partner and husband, Robert Pawlik, has been collaborating with her for over a decade. Their duo has laid the foundation for their renowned Austrian quartet. They have formulated their own creative concept, which involves composing original pieces rooted in the traditional jazz heritage. Their music is heavily influenced by the great jazz icon, Louis Armstrong.
Rabitsch has performed at various prestigious jazz events and festivals worldwide. Some notable performances include the International Jazz Festival in Sibiu, Romania, the Nisville International Jazz Festival in Serbia, the Tel Aviv Jazz Festival in Israel, and the International Jazz Festival Moscow in Russia. In addition to Rabitsch and Pawlik, the quartet consists of Karl Sayer on double bass and Joris Dudli on drums.

Michaela Rabitsch resides in Vienna with her husband Robert Pawlik and their twin sons, Fabian and Valery, born in 1999.
