Education and Career
Born in 1952, Mykola Prysyazhnyukcommenced his education at the Omsk Veterinary Institute in 1975. After graduation, he embarked on a multifaceted career in both the agricultural and political sectors.
Political Roles
From 1990 to 2002, Prysyazhnyuk held various leadership positions within the Stryi District Council, Lviv Oblast Council, and State Administration. Notably, he served as Chairman of the Lviv Oblast State Administration from 1997 to 1999 and 2001 to 2002.
Prysyazhnyuk's political influence extended to the national level. As Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine (1999-2001) and Minister of Agriculture (1999-2000), he played a pivotal role in agricultural policy development. Additionally, he was twice elected as a Member of Parliament and held multiple positions, including deputy chairman of the Agrarian Policy and Land Relations Committee and member of the delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).
Academic Pursuits
Alongside his political career, Prysyazhnyuk pursued academic distinction. In 1998, he earned a Doctorate in Economics and became a professor. He was elected a corresponding member of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences (NAAS) in 1999 and became a full member (academician) in 2002. His research focused on agricultural sector reforms.
Prysyazhnyuk's contributions to academia continued as he joined the NAAS's Department of Agricultural Economics and Land Relations in 2002. From 2007 to 2009, he served as the Chief Scientific Researcher at the Department of Pricing and Market Conditions of the NAAS's Institute of Agricultural Economics.
Recent Activities
In recent years, Prysyazhnyuk has remained active in agricultural administration. He is currently a member of the Presidium of the NAAS and serves as Vice President.
