Biography of Mike Amigorena

Mike Amigorena is an Argentine actor and television presenter. He was born Ricardo Luis Amigorena on May 30, 1972, in Maipú, a large city in the Mendoza province. His father is of Argentine Basque descent, like Eva Perón and Che Guevara, and his mother is of Italian immigrant ancestry.

Early Life and Career Beginnings

In his teenage years, Amigorena often got into trouble, leading to his expulsion from several schools. In 1992, at the age of twenty, he left his hometown of Maipú to pursue fame in Buenos Aires. In the early years, he struggled to make ends meet, taking on various odd jobs to survive.

Eventually, he caught the attention of a modeling agency and in 1992, he landed a small role in the popular local sitcom "La familia Benvenuto," alongside Argentine star Guillermo Francella. He later appeared in the successful youth drama "Montaña rusa." In the mid-1990s, he enrolled in a theater school, where he was mentored by Santiago Doria and later Alfredo Zemma from the Argentine Actors' Association.

Theater and Film Career

In 1995, Amigorena made his debut on the theater stage in Buenos Aires and went on to become a prolific theater actor. He appeared in the local production of Frank Wedekind's play "Spring Awakening" in 1998. From 2004 to 2006, he participated in shortened Shakespearean plays, earning him the "Argentine ACE" and "Clarín Award" prizes.

In film, he landed his first leading role in the 2004 comedy "Tus ojos brillaban" directed by Florencia Di Baja and Germán Drexler. He reunited with Francella in 2005 for the Argentine version of the popular sitcom "Married with Children." He followed this with roles in the comedy "Un peso, un dólar" (2006) by Gabriel Condrón and the romantic comedy "Yo soy sola" (2008) by Tatiana Merenuk.

Television and Music

Amigorena gained significant recognition for his role as Martín Pells in the popular sitcom "Los exitosos Pells," which aired in May 2008. He received the "Martín Fierro Award" for his performance in the series. In 2009, he was among the Argentine actors who appeared in Francis Ford Coppola's drama film "Tetro," which was partly filmed in Buenos Aires.

Besides his acting career, Amigorena is also the lead vocalist of his indie rock band called "Ambulancia."
