Mike Kroeger: Bassist of the Post-Grunge Band Nickelback
Mike Kroeger, the resounding bassist of the post-grunge group Nickelback, was born in 1972 in the quaint farming community of Hanna, Alberta, Canada. He holds the distinction of being the elder brother of Nickelback's vocalist and guitarist, Chad Kroeger. Notably, it was Mike who bestowed the iconic name upon the band while working at a local coffee shop in Hanna. (Currently, Mike resides in Vancouver.)
Musical Journey
Mike's formative years were marked by his mastery of the 5-string bass guitar, which he employed to bring life to Nickelback's burgeoning repertoire. His signature sound is crafted through the meticulous use of Spector and Lakland electric bass guitars.
Personal Life
Away from the stage, Mike shares a fulfilling family life with his wife, Angela Kroeger. They are blessed with a son, Dawson, and a daughter, Avalon, who often accompany the band on their extensive tours.
Musical Origins
Before joining Nickelback, Mike honed his skills in a heavy metal band. His journey with Nickelback commenced when Chad Kroeger enlisted him and Ryan Peake to complete the band's lineup. Together, they have penned and performed some of the most resonant melodies in the post-grunge genre.
