Biography of Milka Stojanović
Milka Stojanović, a Serbian opera soprano, was born on January 13, 1937, in Belgrade. She studied at the La Scala School of Milan's opera theater, as well as under the guidance of the renowned Croatian singer Zinka Milanov.
Early Career
Starting in 1960, Stojanović performed at the Belgrade National Opera, where she sang leading soprano roles. In 1962, she made her international debut at the Edinburgh Festival, and subsequently received invitations from major opera houses around the world.
International Success
Stojanović had the privilege of working with esteemed masters such as Mario del Monaco, Franco Corelli, Plácido Domingo, and Luciano Pavarotti. Her debut at the Metropolitan Opera took place in 1967, where she portrayed the character Leonora in "La forza del destino." She went on to perform on the stage of this renowned New York theater as Liù in "Turandot," Amelia in "Simon Boccanegra," Mimì in "La bohème," and the leading roles in "Aida" and "La Gioconda."
Personal Life
Milka Stojanović is married to the famous Serbian bass Živan Saramandić, and they reside in Belgrade.
