Early Life and College Career
Milton Sigmund Palacio, professionally known as Milt Palacio, was born on February 7, 1978, in Los Angeles, California. He attended Junipero Serra High School and played college basketball at Midland College and Colorado State University. As a member of the Colorado State Rams for three years, he averaged 12.1 points, 4.8 assists, and 4.2 rebounds per game.
NBA Career
Palacio entered the NBA in 1999, playing for seven seasons with the Vancouver Grizzlies, Boston Celtics, Phoenix Suns, Cleveland Cavaliers, Toronto Raptors, and Utah Jazz. During his NBA career, he averaged 4.8 points per game. One of Palacio's most memorable moments came with the Boston Celtics in 2000. With two seconds remaining and the New Jersey Nets leading 111-109, Palacio intercepted a pass from Lucious Harris and sank a 30-foot buzzer-beating shot to give the Celtics the 112-111 victory.
International Career
After becoming a free agent in 2006, Palacio played overseas for a number of teams. He joined Partizan Belgrade in Serbia in 2007 and won the EuroLeague MVP award in March 2008. He also helped Partizan win the Serbian Triple Crown that season. Palacio played for Khimki in Russia in 2008 and returned to Partizan in 2009. He signed with Kavala in Greece in 2010, where he averaged 10.3 points per game.
Palacio played for Saski Baskonia in Spain for two seasons, helping the team win the Spanish League in 2010. He returned to Kavala in 2010 before rejoining Baskonia for the 2010-2011 season. Palacio also played for Blusens Monbus in Spain, Piratas de Quebradillas in Puerto Rico, Bnei HaSharon in Israel, and Lietuvos rytas in Lithuania in later seasons. He retired from professional basketball in 2013 and joined the coaching staff of the Idaho Vandals.
