Early Beginnings in ArgentinaPablo Prigioni's journey began in 1995 when he joined the Ramallo club in the Argentinian LNB league. His talent quickly propelled him to Belgrano San Nicolás and then Obras Sanitarias before making his mark on the international stage.
European Stardom and ACB Success
In 1999, Prigioni crossed the Atlantic to join Fuenlabrada in the Spanish ACB league. After two years, he moved to Lucentum Alicante, where he spent another two seasons. His career took a significant leap in 2003 when he joined Saski Baskonia in the Euroleague.
With Baskonia, Prigioni experienced his most successful period. The team won three Copa del Rey tournaments, four Spanish Supercups, and one Spanish League championship. Prigioni's exceptional athleticism and strategic mindset earned him recognition as a rising star in the Euroleague.
Real Madrid and Return to Baskonia
In 2009, Prigioni joined Real Madrid, but he returned to Baskonia, now known as Caja Laboral, in 2011. He continued to shine in the Euroleague, helping the team achieve numerous titles.
Breakthrough with the New York Knicks
Prigioni's breakthrough came on July 24, 2012, when he signed a one-year contract with the New York Knicks. Despite the modest salary, the opportunity to prove himself in the NBA was invaluable to the Argentinian.
Prigioni quickly established himself as a reliable point guard in the Knicks' starting lineup. In the playoffs against the Boston Celtics, he made three three-pointers in the first quarter, demonstrating his exceptional playmaking abilities. On July 10, 2013, he signed a new contract with the Knicks.
International Success with Argentina
On the international stage, Prigioni represented the Argentinian national team with distinction. He competed in the 2006 FIBA World Championship, won silver at the 2007 FIBA Americas Championship, and earned bronze at the 2008 Olympic Games and the 2011 FIBA Americas Championship.
