Early Life and Career

Milutin Ivković was born in Belgrade, where he began his football career at a young age. He joined the club Yugoslavia at the age of 16 and later played for BASK and Župa.

International Career

Ivković made his international debut for Yugoslavia in 1925. He captained the team at the 1928 Olympics, where they lost in the first round. In 1930, he played in the inaugural FIFA World Cup in Uruguay, helping Yugoslavia defeat Brazil in the first match. However, he was involved in an incident that led to the injury of Bolivian player Gumersindo Gomez.

Political Activism

Ivković was an outspoken political activist who advocated for social justice and opposed fascism. He was instrumental in the boycott of the 1936 Berlin Olympics by the Yugoslav team.

World War II and Death

With the outbreak of World War II, Ivković ended his football career and joined the underground resistance movement. He was captured by the Nazis and executed in 1943.

Legacy

Ivković's memory is honored in Belgrade, where a street bears his name and a memorial plaque is placed outside the Partizan Stadium. He remains a symbol of courage and resistance in the face of adversity.
