Early Life and Career
Miralem Pjanić was born on April 2, 1990, in Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina. His father, Fahrudin Pjanić, was a footballer who played in the Yugoslav Third League. Due to the Bosnian War, the family relocated to Luxembourg, where young Miralem began his footballing journey.
Youth Career
Pjanić's youth career commenced in 1997 when he joined the academy of FC Schifflange 95. He spent seven years there before moving to France to train at FC Metz's academy. By 2007, Pjanić had completed his training and was ready to embark on a professional career.
Professional Debut with FC Metz
In 2007, Pjanić signed a contract with French club FC Metz. His debut season was a success, as he made 32 appearances and scored four goals. The following season, Pjanić attracted interest from Lyon, and a transfer was eventually finalized.
A Key Player at Lyon
Pjanić signed a three-year deal with Lyon in the summer of 2008. During his time there, he became a key attacking midfielder, featuring in the starting lineup in almost every match. On March 10, 2010, he scored a crucial goal against Real Madrid in the Champions League, helping his team progress to the next round.
Move to AS Roma
On August 31, 2011, Pjanić signed a contract with Italian club AS Roma. He quickly established himself as a regular starter, playing a vital role in Roma's midfield. After five full seasons with the Giallorossi, he caught the attention of bigger clubs.
