Monica Cruz Sanchez is a Spanish actress, dancer, and model. She was born into a family of an auto mechanic and a hairdresser, Eduardo Cruz and Encarna Sanchez. Monica grew up in Alcobendas, a suburb north of Madrid, predominantly inhabited by working-class people.
Early Career
From a young age, Monica and her sister, Penelope Cruz, showed talent as dancers. They both pursued dance professionally, with Monica studying traditional ballet and flamenco at The Royal Academy of Dance, while Penelope attended Spain's National Conservatory.
Monica's flamenco dancing skills led her to join Joaquin Cortes' dance group, where she worked for seven years. However, in 2002, Monica decided to temporarily leave dancing and focus on her acting career.
Acting Career
In 2005, Monica landed the lead role in the Spanish television show "Un Paso Adelante" alongside Beatriz Luengo, Pablo Puyol, Silvia Marty, and Lola Herrera. This show marked the beginning of her successful acting career.
