Monica Kozan: A Multifaceted Artist
Early Life and EducationBorn in New York City, Monica Kozan began her photographic journey at the age of 16 while attending the International Summer Academy of Fine Arts in Salzburg, Austria. Her passion for photography continued as she studied at the International Center of Photography in New York, the Rhode Island School of Design, and the Sorbonne School of Arts in Paris. Eventually, Kozan earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts.

Photography: Capturing Life's Defining Moments
Kozan's photography focuses on capturing meaningful moments in children's and family life. Her work has been featured in books by her sister, Carol Ann Nawracaj, including "Treasures from Heaven, the Gift of Children" and "Thank Heaven For Little Girls." Her portraits have also graced the pages of renowned publications such as "Parents and Child," while her work has received recognition in "The New York Times."

Innovative Photo Displays
Kozan's artistic talents extend beyond photography. In 2002, she began creating unique photo frames from repurposed compact discs and cigarette boxes. Her iconic "cigarette box" frame retails for $1,450 and has been sought after by celebrities such as Kathy Hilton, who gifted them to her daughters Paris and Nicky Hilton for Christmas in 2005.

Jewelry and Home Decor
Kozan has expanded her artistic expression to include custom jewelry and home accessories. Inspired by vintage cigarette boxes, compacts, medallions, and daguerreotype cases, she creates handcrafted pieces from materials such as sterling silver, gold, cowhide, and enamel. Her jewelry and home decor collections have been showcased in top fashion magazines and television programs.
Recognition and Achievements
For her exceptional designs, Kozan has been awarded the "Rising Star" award by the Fashion Group International. She is a member of the Council of Fashion Designers of America and has published the book "Living With What You Love" with Clarkson Potter, a division of Random House.
Continued Passion for Photography
Despite her success in diverse artistic endeavors, photography remains a central passion for Kozan. She has over 20 years of experience in black-and-white photography, capturing defining moments in the lives of both her family and those beyond it. Inspired by Edward Steichen, she strives to create timeless and emotionally resonant portraits.
