However, Freeman faced numerous difficulties before making a career in the film industry. In 1955, after graduating from high school, he unexpectedly declined a scholarship to university and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. Although he aspired to become a pilot, he was assigned the role of a mechanic and stationed in Texas, where he spent five years. After being discharged, Freeman moved to Los Angeles in search of a better life. He initially worked as a clerk at a college but soon quit and moved to New York City. He danced at the "World's Fair" exhibition for a while before joining the "Opera Ring music group" in San Francisco. However, he eventually returned to Los Angeles and found a place at the "Pasadena Playhouse" theater. Alongside his theater work, Freeman attended acting classes. These classes led to his Broadway debut in the musical "Hello, Dolly!" in 1968.

Rise to Fame

Freeman started appearing on stage more frequently and gained recognition on television in the series "The Electric Company." Although the show had an audience, it wasn't until 1987 that Freeman received his first Oscar nomination for his supporting role in the film "Street Smart." However, his true breakthrough came in 1989 when he played the lead role in the comedy-drama "Driving Miss Daisy." This performance earned him his second Oscar nomination and established him as one of Hollywood's finest actors. Freeman's film career skyrocketed, and he began receiving offers for more serious and dramatic roles. In 1991, he appeared in the adventure film "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves" and, in 1992, in Clint Eastwood's western "Unforgiven." These roles solidified his success in Hollywood. However, it wasn't until 1994 that Freeman became known worldwide with the release of the film "The Shawshank Redemption."
