Early Life and Education
Birth and UpbringingTofiq Amirov was born in 1947 in the Devecinski (present-day Shabran) district of the Azerbaijan SSR. From 1954 to 1965, he attended Devecinski Urban Secondary School No. 1.
Higher Education
In 1969, Amirov enrolled in the history faculty of the Azerbaijan Pedagogical University, graduating with honors in 1973.
Career in Education
Teaching and Research PositionsAmirov began his teaching career in 1973 as a history teacher at Bash Amiraskhanly Secondary School in the Devecinski district. He simultaneously served as director of an evening school for working youth (1973-1974) and deputy director of Surra Secondary School in Devecinski (1974-1975).
Aspirancy and Doctoral Studies
In 1975, Amirov entered the doctoral program at the Research Institute of Pedagogical Sciences, specializing in "Methodology of Legal Education." He completed his studies in 1978 and began working as a junior researcher at the institute.
In 2008, Amirov earned his doctorate from Baku Pedagogical University with a dissertation on "The System of Work on the Formation of Political Culture in History Teaching."
Academic Appointments
From 1985 to 1999, Amirov was head of the Department of Methodology for Teaching History, Geography, and Law at the Institute of Educational Problems of the Azerbaijan Republic.
Since 1986, he has been an associate professor and later, from 2014, a professor in the Department of History of Turkic, Eastern European Peoples, and Methodology of History Teaching at Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University.
Amirov serves on various dissertation councils and the Scientific and Methodological Council of the Ministry of Education.
