Murat Abduraimovich Akhmadiyev: A Kazakhstani Military and Political Figure

Murat Abduraimovich Akhmadiyev, a renowned military and political leader in Kazakhstan, is celebrated as a People's Hero and General of the Army.

Early Life and Education

Born on December 10, 1945, in Karaganda, Akhmadiyev hailed from a family of government employees. After graduating high school, he embarked on a career as a pitman in a Karaganda mine, working for seven years. In 1969, he enrolled in the Armavir Higher Military Aviation School of Air Defense, from which he graduated with distinction.

Military Career

Akhmadiyev's military career commenced as a pilot. He rose through the ranks, serving as a flight leader, squadron commander, deputy commander, and commander of a fighter aviation regiment in Perm. In 1982, he became a student at the G.K. Zhukov Air Defense Academy.

Upon graduating in 1985, Akhmadiyev was appointed deputy commander of the Turkestan Military District's Air Defense Corps. He subsequently held positions as division commander and corps commander.

Service in the Republic of Kazakhstan

From 1992 to 1993, Akhmadiyev served as commander of the Air Defense Corps and deputy defense minister of Kazakhstan. He then became commander-in-chief of the Air Force and deputy defense minister until 1994, after which he continued as Air Force commander.

In October 1996, Akhmadiyev ascended to the post of Minister of Defense. He subsequently served as commander-in-chief of Kazakhstan's Air Defense Forces from December 1999.

Return as Defense Minister and Other Appointments

On December 8, 2001, Akhmadiyev was reappointed as Defense Minister. From January 10, 2007, he assumed the role of Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and First Deputy Defense Minister. He retired from this position on March 11, 2010.

In April 2010, he was appointed as a member of the Kazakhstani Senate by presidential decree.

Throughout his career, Akhmadiyev has received numerous awards and accolades, including the title of People's Hero of Kazakhstan and the Order of Courage. His leadership in the military and government has shaped the security and stability of his country.
